Entry-level splicing role for Centric Fiber, Centric Infrastructure Group's fiber subsidiary, based in Austin. The apprentice helps a lead splicer on fiber builds across the major Texas metros. Centric says it will train the right person, though some fiber background helps.
The work
- Help the lead splicer splice, terminate and test fiber, plus bonding and grounding
- Install customer equipment in homes and troubleshoot signal problems
- Work from prints and splice diagrams and keep detailed job records
What they want
- HS diploma or GED and a valid driver's license
- Comfortable with hand tools, climbing, crawling and lifting up to 75 lb
- Able to travel often between Texas metros; fiber install experience is a plus
