Fiber splicer pay: what job postings actually offer

Every number on this page comes from the 80 fiber splicer jobs on FiberCrew as of September 23, 2026, each checked against the employer's own posting. The page updates itself as jobs open and close. We only use pay the employer publishes, so these are posted ranges, not what any one person earns.
The short answer
44 of 80 splicer postings list an hourly range. The typical posted range is $25–$35 an hour (the median low end to the median high end, rounded to the dollar), and the full spread runs from $18 to $50.
Where you land in a range usually depends on your level. Many contractors hire in tiers (Splicer I, II and III, or apprentice, technician and journeyman), and the top of a posted range is usually meant for the senior tier.
Pay by level
- Lead, senior and level III splicers: typical posted range $30–$45 an hour, across 9 postings with hourly pay.
- All splicer postings: $25–$35 an hour.
- Entry-level and will-train roles: 8 openings on the board right now, 3 with posted pay (GoNetspeed $30–$35/hr, GoNetspeed $23–$32/hr and Ting Internet $53,372–$60,000/yr).
Does travel pay more?
Not much in the hourly rate. Traveling splicer jobs post a typical range of $24–$35 an hour, and local jobs post $25–$36. The bigger difference is usually what comes on top: per diem, lodging and overtime. That's why the per diem line matters as much as the hourly rate.
Only 3 postings on the board state a per diem amount: Congruex: $150 daily (as listed); Deeply Digital: $60/day; Technical Diagnostic Services: $140/day, 7 days a week. Most travel postings don't say, so ask before you commit. See the weekly per diem report.

Other pay to look for
- Salary or piecework: 4 splicer postings give a yearly figure instead of an hourly one (Pilot Fiber $62,400–$83,200/yr and MasTec Communications Group $75,000–$125,000/yr). Some contractors pay by production, so a yearly range can swing widely with how much you splice.
- Sign-on bonuses: 4 postings mention one, from Congruex and TDS Telecom.
- Weekly pay: 5 postings say you're paid weekly.
How this compares with government data
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn't track fiber splicers as their own job. The closest category, telecommunications line installers and repairers, had a median wage of $74,330 a year in May 2025. BLS projects that group to shrink about 3% from 2025 to 2035. - Which level am I being hired at, and what does it take to move up?
- Is there per diem, and is it paid every day or only workdays? Is lodging covered?
- Is any of the pay production-based? How is production counted?
- Do I get a company truck, and who supplies the splicer and test gear?
- How much overtime is typical, and is travel time paid?
